Xbox Games with Gold – August 2015
Xbox has released another four great games this month for Gold members, and we’re super excited about this month’s selection. Not only this, when browsing the Xbox store last night, we found even more free games for Xbox One members, including Neverwinter, Happy Wars, Warframe and Smite – we’re not sure how long these extra games will be free, so make sure to grab them whilst you can!
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at what we can look forward to on Games with Gold in August.
The Games with Gold August offerings for the Xbox One are Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition. Remember – So Many Me is still available from July’s Games with Gold until August 15th.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
The first segment of the Metal Gear Solid V Experience, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is part of a huge franchise that has received high ratings since it was first released. Unfortunately, Ground Zeroes was classed as little more than a demo when it was released due to the story mode taking less than 2 hours to complete – as an achievement hunter, I’m alright with that, but I can see why others moan. That said, the graphics and controls are beyond amazing, and playing this should introduce you to the Metal Gear franchise. It’s likely you’ll want to go and buy the prologue, Phantom Pain, (released Sept 2015) after this!
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be available for the whole of August. The RRP is $19.99.
How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition
We love a good zombie game at Tech Scorpion, and How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition certainly doesn’t look like it will disappoint. Gamers will be expected to survive on a zombie infested band of islands, fulfilling their needs for water, food, and shelter, whilst protecting themselves against hordes of the undead. You’ll also get to salvage items around you and turn them into killer devices. It sounds very similar to Dead Island, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Who doesn’t love killing zombies in paradise?
How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition will be available from August 16th-September 15th, and has an RRP of $19.99.
Xbox 360 users can look forward to Metro 2033 and its sequel, Metro: Last Light with August’s Games with Gold.
It’s not often that a video game is based on a book, but Metro 2033 not only does this but it does it well! A first person shooter, Metro 2033 is set in an apocalyptic wasteland. A handful of people survived and have been living underground. Children have been born and raised underneath the old streets afraid of the mutant horrors that await outside. You are one of these children. Yet now you need to enter the desolate wastelands above to warn the survivors of an impending threat. Can you do it? This has been on my wish list for ages, so I can’t wait to give Metro 2033 a try!
Metro 2033 is available from August 1st – August 15th. Its RRP is $19.99.
Metro: Last Light
The sequel to Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light begins in the year 2034. Mutants are still stalking the desolate land above ground whilst survivors still live in the underground metro system. At its core, you’re looking at another first person shooter game with some horror elements intertwined in the story. Add in the crisp graphics, the gripping story, the immersive sound, and the excellent controls, and you’ve got a game that will keep you entertained for hours. If you loved Fallout and Bioshock, you’re guaranteed to love this!
Metro: Last Light will be available for Games with Gold subscribers from August 16th – August 31st. Its RRP is $29.99.
Have you played any of the above Games with Gold games for August? We’d love to hear what you think of them in the comments.
