Ever Wondered What Happens to Your Brain if You Use a Smartphone Before Bed?

If you’re anything like me, you probably head up to bed with good intentions of getting a good night’s sleep.  But if you’ve not managed to nod off within 10-15 minutes, out comes the smartphone.  Whether you’re checking for emails, browsing through social media, or reading news articles, the physical act of checking your smartphone could be causing more harm than good.

In the following video, originally posted on Business Insider, UCLA’s clinical professor of psychology, Dan Siegel, explains just what happens to your brain when you use your smartphone before bed.

After seeing the negative effects for myself, I’m going to make a conscious effort to stop checking for emails and actually try to get some sleep!  What about you?
